Meet JACQUES
Come and say bonjour to Frère Jacques, who loves to sleep, sing and ring bells! With plenty of music, movement, fun and creativity, this puppet will introduce you and your little one to some classic tunes and songs adapted to learning le français, using useful every day vocabulary and actions so you can learn to get dressed, describe the weather and even tidy up in French. Games in each session introduce different numbers, colours, animals, and days of the week. We will celebrate the different seasons and festive occasions in each term. Carers will find the classes easy to follow as lyrics are printed on posters in class and songs will be available on the website for those who also wish to sing French at home.

About me
Enchantée! (Nice to meet you) My name is Patricia and I am a native French speaker who was born near Geneva. Although my parents are English, I did all of my schooling in French until age 13, when we moved to London. Once I became a mother (and a child in my mind again), my inner voice somehow switched back to French, so I started speaking French to my baby: two years on, and James is delighting me by responding in my childhood language! The aim of On Chante (which means "let's sing") is to spread the love of French to pre-schoolers, since early second language acquisition has so many advantages that will help in school and in life later on.

I have been a teacher for over a decade, teaching children in a bilingual primary school (l’Ecole Bilingue de Suisse Romande), adults at la Swiss French School and Wall Street English, and more recently university students in EAP (King’s College, London) and in foundation year curriculum design (London School of Business and Management). I have an MPhil from the University of Cambridge (on the influence of French authors on American literature), and an MA in education from la Haute Ecole Pedagogique in Switzerland, where I am qualified to teach English to 6th form students.
Currently, my passions are learning the ukelele and learning about child psychology.
